After qualifying as an accountant, Alison worked for fifteen years in banking and financial services in the UK and Australia, before transitioning to a career in international development. She worked in Cambodia from 2015-2018, firstly as a financial management mentor in the disability sector, and then as acting CFO and advisor to a microfinance institution. She then returned to Australia to complete a Master of Development Studies at UNSW, whilst continuing to work on consultancy projects in Cambodia.
