Maiya’s story: CAFE inspired me to start my own business

Maiya is a financial success story from Nepal.

As a result of participating in Good Return’s CAFE training, she was able to begin managing money through regular savings and to start a small business from home for a regular income.

First, she created a savings fund for her family because she’d learned that regular savings are an important first step to securing her financial future. Later, as a result of the CAFE training, Maiya developed the skills and self confidence to begin her own business, making and selling incense sticks.

Together with her friend Sanju, they sourced the raw materials required for their business to thrive. Maiya now makes incense sticks worth as much as NRs 7,000 ($92.24) per week, which represents an impressive profit margin of more than 50%.

CAFE has enabled Maiya to improve her financial management skills and most importantly to give her a growing sense of independence.
